Adults Who Eat 5+ Servings of Fruits and/or Vegetables per Day

County: Allegheny
Measurement Period: 2021
Percent of adults who consume at least 5 servings of fruits and/or vegetables every day.

Why is this important?

Healthy eating and nutrition are important modifiable risk factors for several chronic conditions, including obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and some cancers. A healthy diet also helps to manage chronic conditions, but many Allegheny County residents lack access to healthy options, causing them to consume too much sodium, sugar, and saturated fat. Nutritional habits start early in life, so ACHD is working to encourage children and families to make healthier food and drink choices and expand access to affordable groceries by increasing WIC approved grocery stores and working with community groups.
